Be a responsible pet owner

I love cats! And I'm pretty sure that everybody knows that by now :) If I could take on 100 cats I would but unfortunately I do not have the proper house nor do I have the funds to do that. Animal population control is a serious problem here in the Philippines. I mean, how many times have we encountered news on animal cruelty and neglect?

Anyway, I'd like to share the news about a wonderful project headed by the UP Vet Med. Details and poster below:

The University of the Philippines College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (UP CVM, DVCS) in cooperation with the UP Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) will be having their 2nd Free Spay and Neuter Day for cats and dogs on August 14, 2009. This event will be conducted at the UP Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Diliman from 8am to 5pm.

The program aims to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through the control of unwanted breeding of cats and dogs in nearby communities. The program will be open to any individual who wishes to avail of the free neuter and spay of their beloved pets. I had a great time taking photos of old buildings and pigeons while my mom and sister were shopping in Chinatown :) It's really amazing how the old buildings blend in with the new modern structures! I just love it :)I wonder what kind of store this was before...windows with green shutters on a yellow building!look at those colors :) I think this is in Little India alreadypigeons hanging outdon't you just love that building?

The Diamond

We were lucky enough to witness Dream Engine's performance, The Diamond at the Merlion Park a few weeks ago. Dream Engine is a performing arts group based in the UK who aim to dream up the extraordinary and bring it to life. They have definitely succeeded with their goal because the performance was truly out of this world! In fact, we liked it so much that we watched it twice that night :)The performance starts with the dome inflatingThe aerialist dances inside as the lights change color. If you look closely you will notice that there is no safety harness (yikes) the dome changing colors :)

things are Awesome!

I found this random photo online and have fallen in love with it. Actually, I was so amazed that I spent quite a while researching on the cat and the origin of the photo.
The original photo was taken by artist Lizzy Stewart in Seaford, South East England in July 2008 while the image of the cat on the poster can be found here. If you look closely, the cat looks a bit different but that is because it is a wild Central Asian creature called a Pallas cat. Just awesome! I love it :)

i miss you.

dear nugget,

I almost cried while I was on the train last night. I was on my way home and decided to go though my phone cam pics to pass the time. Most of the images on my album are pictures of you and I suddenly realized how much I missed you :(

Some of my friends (the non cat people) think I'm a bit weird for missing you so much but I can't help it. I miss hearing your loud wake up meows. I miss blocking you from the door as you try to follow me inside the bathroom every morning. I miss watching you play and run around the house when you get the "crazies". I think I can go on the whole day listing all the little things that I miss.

Anyway, I hope you are doing fine and getting along well with Kirby. Don't eat too much, okay?

love, kate
